The property
The “Portazza” derives its name from the ancient Roman customs house that once stood in the area where our resort is located today, which was a crucial stop for salt trade due to its proximity to the salt pans of Marsala. By the end of the 1700s, the land was acquired by the noble Montalto family, who built a summer residence known as a “baglio,” surrounded by vineyards and nestled in the stunning landscape of the Stagnone nature reserve.
The baglio, preserved in its original structure through careful restoration, has been converted into a comfortable vacation villa featuring five rooms, including three quadruples, one triple, and one double. Here, guests can enjoy local traditional dishes made with zero-kilometer products sourced from the surrounding lands. Reservations for the restaurant are required at least one day in advance.
In line with sustainability efforts, the resort operates entirely on renewable energy, thanks to the installation of a photovoltaic system, solar panels, a rainwater collection tank used for irrigating the garden and citrus grove, and a biomass boiler. These initiatives have enabled the establishment to achieve Ecolabel Europe certification.
Located just 3 km from the historic center of Marsala, the ancient Lilibeo, and facing the Stagnone Lagoon, the villa provides privileged access to one of the world’s top destinations for kitesurfing. Its strategic location also allows for easy access to both equipped and wild beaches, as well as to areas of significant historical and scenic value, including Mothia, Segesta, Selinunte, Trapani, Erice, the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento, Mazara del Vallo, San Vito Lo Capo, and the Zingaro nature reserve.
